About us & shelter

Association One Rescue (Asociatia One Rescue) is warm and caring private dog & cat shelter in Romania. We are safe haven for hundreds of animals who have been rescued from the streets or from poor conditions. Our shelter is located in Cosoba village, in county Giurgiu, in short distance from Bucharest. We work hard for better future for the animals in our care and also in the area around us. With our supporters we provide all the year around Spay & Neuter campaign for local pet owner’s dogs and cats to achieve less abandonment and preventing unwanted puppies and kittens to be born.

We carry out adoption activities with our local volunteers and partners as well as with Finnish and German associations that support us.

Our Story

Association’s founder is Adina Vladut. Dr. Adina Vladut has a long career as a veterinarian, and almost as long she has been helping homeless dogs and cats in Romania.

The big step was taken forward in her rescue work in 2014-2015. From the need to be able to help and shelter abandoned animals, she decided to rent an old and dilapidated farm and plot in the village of Cosoba at Giurgiu county. Cosoba is located relatively near Bucharest. The location is good and peaceful, it’s at the edge of the village and surrounded by fields.

Shelter is built in a yard of 1.5 hectares. Dr. Adina started diligently building kennels and paddocks for the dogs on the farm so that she could help them more. Shelter is improving year by year up to this date and we have a plan to do so in upcoming years as well.

Association One Rescue was created in 2017, at 3rd year of the shelter, so that the activities could be continued and expanded in a more professional and reliable manner.

What we do

Spay & Neuter

We want to be able to permanently improve the situation of homeless animals in the area near by shelter so spay & neuter campaign has important role in our operations. Sterilization of dogs and cats is the most important way to prevent the birth and abandonment of unwanted puppies and kittens.

Our veterinarian team, at shelter’s clinic, provides spay & neuter for local pet owner’s dogs and cats all year around. In 2025 we spay & neuter total:

1524 Cats

564 Dogs

Sterilizations require donation funds to be able to keep these actions ongoing, and especially cats are often harder to find sponsors for, for cats sterilization sponsoring price is 30€ (150 RON) and for dogs more.

1-5/ 2026 we have spayed total:

450 Female cats

146 Male cats

147 Female dogs

56 Male dogs

Awarness

As part of spay & neuter activities we participate to educational program called From Awarness to Action that is coordinated by Rescue Association Hobo Dogs. We provide educational leaflets at our shelter’s entrance in waiting room, leaflets have lot of useful information about spay & neuter and basic wellbeing information about of dogs and cats. Time to time we participate to leaflet distribution days at the villages too. You can learn more about the program in Hobo Dogs project page.

Adoptions

Together with our volunteers and cooperation partners we change many lives for better every year. During years we have successfully helped more than thousand animals to find their own loving forever homes. Many dogs and cats were able to start better live through adoptions in 2025:

257 Cats

158 Dogs

Adoption so far in 1-5/2026:

57 Dogs

We currently have 6 caregivers at shelter and one of veterinarians from OneVet team is precent daily from Monday to Friday. Adina Vladut together with her husband are owners of OneVet clinic at Bucharest and with their own and their team’s hard work, clinic provides most of the veterinarian care that is needed at shelter.

Along with caregivers and vets we have support team and more than precious volunteers, without volunteers we are not able to keep up with example adoptions and social media. Volunteering is great way to help and you read more about it here.

Our premises

In our shelter we have big yard for our dogs divided to 8 different sections, that allows near half of them to be outdoors freely on weekdays. Paddocks are built with 3 closed walls to limit visibility with neighbour paddocks to reduce stress and conflicts.

Cats have wide open space yard with building that has several heated and insulated rooms with beds, sofas, food & warer bowls and scratching posts. Cats are free to come and go from cat doors and choose wether they wish to spend day ourdoors or just to relax indoors.

Our biggest costs are food, medical supplies and medicines, carers salaries and heating.
